Meet Dr Avinash Suryawanshi
Avinash Suryawanshi is a Consultant Endocrinologist, Director of Diabetes Service at Concord Repatriation General Hospital and a Clinical Lecturer at The University of Sydney.
Dr Suryawanshi was trained in endocrinology at Concord Repatriation General Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, prior to obtaining fellowship from Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). He also has wealth of overseas experience in Internal Medicine as evidenced by fellowship from College of Physicians and Surgeons, Mumbai and postgraduate Diplomat National Board, New Delhi India.
Dr Suryawanshi maintains high standards of clinical practice and strongly supports the concept of individualised patient care. He has authored several quality assurance projects in Sydney Local Health district to assist improvement in patient care. Concord Clinical School and Concord Diabetes Education Centre have awarded his expertise in the area of clinical empowerment and teaching. He has been an active member of various steering committees to assist training of basic physician and advanced trainees in Endocrinology.
Dr Suryawanshi has special interest in the area of Diabetes and Metabolic health and strongly supports the role of multidisciplinary approach for optimal patient care. He has co-authored a chapter in the textbook of obesity on “Drugs causing weight gain and clinical alternatives to their use” and was a principal investigator on several clinical research projects including HEAR study, PERX study, FAME1 eye study, HAD-PACO study, IPDA study, etc.
Dr Suryawanshi is also a core member of ccCHIP (Collaborative Centre for Cardio-metabolic Health in Psychosis)- an integrated service for screening, detection and management of metabolic disorders among patients with severe mental illness. He is also a Consulting Endocrinologist at St John of God and Wesley Private Hospitals in Sydney.
